Rebar (a shortened form for reinforcing bar), also recognized as reinforcing steel/reinforcement steel, stands for a steel bar or mesh of steel wires to be applied like a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures to improve the strength as well as retain the concrete in tension.
Reinforcing bars are hot-rolled with various steel materials. Maximum rebars are rolled from new steel billets, whereas others are rolled from steel debris or railroad rails. Rebars are necessary to have some kind of proof of identity to recognize the mill that generate the reinforcing steel bar.
REBAR CHART - Bar numbers are dependent on the number of 1/8 inches that is contained in the minimum diameter of the bar. The minimum diameter concerning a deformed bar is same as the diameter of a plain bar containing the equivalent weight per foot such as the deformed bar.
Fe500 and Fe500 D tmt bars are equally supposed to provide a nominal of 500 MPa of Yield Strength (YS), where they vary however defined as the ductility parameter. Fe500 D grade of tmt rebar provides greater ductility (calculated as UTS/YS ratio; % elongation) as compared to Fe500 rebar.
Download the following sheet for reinforcement steel specifications. It includes bar schedules, bar lists etc. to simplify the fabrication & placement of steel reinforcement supplied by the contractor. Prior to arrange the reinforcement, the building contractor has to furnish four copies of such specifications to the contracting officer for sanction.
