Quality Control of Ready Mix Concrete with three vital Components
Quality control of ready-mixed concrete is dividing into three components in below:
1) Immediate Control
Immediate control that is an instant action to control the quality of the concrete was produced and that of deliveries closely following:
It is divide between two parts.
A) Production control: The production of concrete at each and every plant shall be systematically and controlled.
The workability of the concrete was controlled on a continue basis during production and the corrective action necessary. Each and every load of mixed concrete shall be inspected before the transmit and prior to discharge.
The estimated slump,and the total amount of the water are added to the load and the delivery ticket for this load.
After that the time that concrete was loaded into the truck. Regular routine inspections shall be carried out of the condition of plant and equipment including delivery vehicles.
For every load, written or graphical records shall be made by the mass of the materials batch. It ensures that all the concrete supplied shall be in accordance with these requirements and formed the basis of the agreement in the producer and purchaser.
B) Product Control: Concrete mixes is use randomly sampled and tested for workability where it is appropriate and plastic density and temperature and air content. There the significant variations of target values are detected and corrective action shall be taken.
Satisfactory adjustments should be made in masses for the aggregates due to this variation (see IS 456). This is important to maintain the water and cement ratio constant in its correct value.
The quantity of adding water will be adjusted to compensate for any observed variations with the moisture content in the aggregates. If any change into the water content due to change in aggregate grading shall be taken care by forward control by suitable modifications to mix design.
2. Forward Control
Forward control and consequent corrective action are one of essential parts of quality control. Forward control is includes the following in some points.
- Control of purchased material Quality.
- Control of Materials storage.
- Transfer and Weighing Equipment: Producer who will able to make it clear that a documented calibration procedure in these place, Elector-mechanical weighing and metering systems are use to load cells, flow meters etc. It is better as the mechanical system and that?s knife edge and lever systems.
- Mix design and mix design modification.
- Plant mixers where present and truck mixers are used in this operation conditions.
3) Retrospective Control
Retrospective control which is influencer of the control of production. It may cover any property of materials or concrete, like slump, or air content, aggregate grading etc.
This is particularly associated by 28-days cube strength because it is very nature and this is not property of that are measured ahead of, or the time of manufacturing.
