How to calculate the quantity of steel and concrete in concrete column

In this construction video tutorial, one will come to know the detail process for calculating the quantities of steel and concrete in column.

The dimension of column is given as follow :-

Length of the column is given as 400 mm i.e. 0.4 m
Breadth of the column is given as 400 mm i.e. 0.4 m
Height of column is given as 3 m i.e. 3000 mm

The total volume of the column will be 0.48 cubic meter and the calculation is made by applying the following formula :-

Length of column x Breadth of column x Height of column
Proportion of RCC for M20 concrete grade is given as 1:1.5:3 (cement : sand : aggregate)

Analysis for column :-

Wet volume is taken as 0.48 cubic meter
After converting it to dry volume, dry volume becomes 0.74

While going to convert wet volume to dry volume, the wet volume is raised by 54%. The following formula is used for conversion :-

Wet volume x 1.54

Given below the proportion of steel by volume of concrete :-

Slab = 1.00%
Beam = 2.00%
Column = 2.50%
Road = 0.60%
