Implication of reinforcement in concrete roads

Reinforcement in concrete roads should serve the following purposes:

To restrain the growth and pattern of cracks in concrete pavement.

To minimize the spacing of joints. Usually, joints and reinforcement in concrete structures are common design measures to be applied to thermal and shrinkage movement.

Therefore, the addition of reinforcement facilitates :-

The development of small cracks in concrete pavement and the spacing of joints is expanded significantly.

Great inflexibility and subsequently a good dispersion of the loads on the foundation and outstanding fatigue behavior.

- Good resistant to wear and rutting and edges that do not decay
- Uneffected by oil, organic substances, chemicals
- bright colour, skid resistance and safety in winter
- Eco-friendly.

Actually, the amount of reinforcement in concrete slab is not so powerful and the structural strength of roads is not considerably affected.
