MERIDEN — City and school officials are working with representatives from O&G Industries to resolve a $6.76 million overage in the Platt High School renovation project.
Bids opened last month revealed a significant overage on the $111.8 million project for construction work. With a construction budget of $84.7 million, the bids on 21 aspects of work came in about $6.76 million higher than expected. There was a similar issue at Maloney High School, a $107.5 million project, which was $7.69 million over budget.
As with the Maloney project, officials have been meeting with the lowest bidders on each aspect of the Platt work. Assistant School Superintendent Michael S. Grove said last week officials had met with about two-thirds of the lowest bidders, with “five or six” left to go.
