How precast concrete is used in different structures

 

 

The use of Precast concrete can be found on various building structures like structural frames, floors and roofs, claddings etc.

 

How Precast Concrete is used in frames:

 

There exist two different types of precast building frame. The structural frame is constructed with slabs, beams and columns. Structural frames are extensively utilized in offices, car parks and retail developments.

 

The cross-wall frame is made with floor slabs and solid walls. It is specifically utilized in hotels, schools and hospitals.

 

How Precast Concrete is used for Floors: The floors developed with precast concrete can provide the following benefits :-

 

. Quick completion of construction
. Reduced production cost
. Standardized cross=section
. Strong potency to weight ratio
. Even surface finishes

How precast concrete is used in Cladding:

 

Precast concrete cladding can be applied as a structural element. Most it is used as a non-structural decorative façade.

The backing concrete is formed with an ordinary mix, while the façade may comprise a special mix, e.g. white Portland cement. Different types of forms, details and colors are created.

 

Precast concrete cladding is not limited to precast frames. It is commonly used with in-situ concrete or steel frames, and for refurbishments.
