How to use augmented reality technology for construction to interpret the 2D construction drawings on the jobsite
Bently System develops a system that applies augment reality technology to simplify the construction process with the interpretation of 2D construction drawings on a construction jobsite. This useful system integrates the application of 2D drawings and 3D models taking place at the site in an augmented reality environment.
For this purpose, Bently System initially develops augmented reality headset through a Oculus Rift device and 2 wide field of view webcams. Tracking was captured by applying an Optitrack tracking system set up in the lab. The augmentation system was tested for building a new wall and cabinet in an existing room. The augmented reality prototype was built in house in C++, and it is produced on the basis of the Ogre3D rendering engine.
