Download excel sheet for designing T Beam
Tee beam is found in construction. It is a load-bearing structure of reinforced concrete, wood or metal, and contains a t-shaped cross section. It is constituted with a stem and a flange in the form of a T; generally from reinforced concrete or rolled metal.
The uppermost part of the t-shaped cross section functions a flange or compression member in withstanding compressive pressures.
Tee Section is also called T beam or T bar. It stands for a structural beam that includes a ?T? shaped cross section. Tee section is usually formed with plain carbon steel.
Benefits of T beam: For extents greater than 4 m it provides superior and considerably more resistance capacity related to rectangular beam. Basically T beam can minimize the need for rebar.
9 to 20 percent reinforcement can be saved with regard to rectangular beam.
Necessary depth of beam will also be decreased as flange or web will provide support against sagging moment.
Cons of T beam: Calculations are very complicated for structure engineer, draftsmen to carry out drafting, and foremen for bar bending.
T beam needs links on top flange, that a foremen may dislike.
Savings for lesser steel is hampered with additional bar bending work.
