Benefits of steel/TMT Bars in construction industries

Metal is used to develop the structural framework of high-rise buildings. Metal performs as a surface covering element from outside. Steel is considered as the most recognized component that is utilized extensively in structural building materials. Steel is considerably robust and influence the longevity of the structure. But the steel is damaged due to corrosion and so alternative materials are used for other reasons.

Aluminum alloys are useful in building Steel/TMT Bars as they are light-weight and contains superior corrosion resistance characteristics. There are many pre-fabricated structures which are used for this purpose. Expensive materials are used for specific purposes.

Manufacturing Process Of TMT Bars:

The thermo-mechanical process is originated if work hardening and heat-treatment is combined into a single method. If bars are processed in this method, they are known as TMT bars. The use of TMT bars can be found in rebar steel.

The method is applied to optimize the strength of low-carbon steel and it is very cost-effective. The surface layer of the bar will be quenched. The deformation of crystal structure will happen and intermediate layers will be under pressure in this method. Simultaneously, quenched layers are hardened with the heat arises from the center.

The external surface of TMT bars is rigid and the internal core is very pliant. Hot rolled steel wires will be used in water too and it is included in the manufacturing process. The weld-capacity of the product as well as the corrosion resistance is significantly enhanced under this method. The external surface of the metal is chilled rapidly as compared to the center of the metal and so temperature gradient will be high from the bar axis to the boundary. The residual stress in TMT bars will be lower as compared to HYSD (High Yield Strength Deformed) Bars. The corrosion resistance capacity is also excessive. The ductility of TMT bars is greater as compared to equivalent strength grade of bars.

Variance among TMT Bars and Twisted Bars..?

The twisted bars and TMT bars differ with each other. Twisted bars stand for cold treated bars and TMT bars for hot treated bars. TMT bars will undergo three phases of processing. They are quenching, self tempering and atmospheric cooling. As no twisting is found throughout the TMT process, torsional stress does not occur. Therefore, no surface flaws are found in TMT bars. As TMT bars contain martensite micro structure, the tensile strength is greater than twisted bars.

TMT bars are mostly recognized in construction sectors due to its greater bend properties, superior elongation, fire proof, extreme fatigue resistance and strong weldability & formability. TMT products are widely utilized in developing bridges, dams, structures, high-rise buildings, concrete reinforcement and underground platforms.
