Kier to construct new Manchester Siemens building
Kier has been awarded a contract by Siemens to build a new office building in Manchester.
The construction company will deliver a 100,000 sq ft commercial facility as part of a scheme to expand the company's operations in the city.
Residential and hotel accommodation will also be added, while the existing Sir William Siemens House is to be refurbished.
The project is being delivered in consultation with Manchester City Council, which secured a Regional Growth Fund with Siemens to help finance the construction.
James Nicholson, senior development manager at Kier Property, said: "We are committed to delivering a scheme of the highest quality and one which complements and adds to Manchester's innovation and technology focus."
The expansion is the result of new investment in green infrastructure, with Siemens planning to increase its focus on offshore wing power transmission technologies.
Kier recently started work building the new £22 million Furness Academy in Barrow, Cumbria.
Businesses in the construction sector could benefit from Sage Estimating, cost planning and post contract software, which is programmed to provide an end-to-end solution for construction projects.
