The specific aims of this course are:
to develop your ability to think analytically and independently about surveying problems and to deal effectively with uncertainty in the pursuit of problem solving.
to enable you to understand the technical, economic, legal and organisational aspects of quantity surveying and the nature of the boundary relationships that exist;
to allow you to appreciate the significance of the built environment to the wider environment and the economy and society as a whole;
to engender your understanding of the ethics and requirements of professional practice in order to ensure you develop a clear sense of professional responsibility and identity;
to enable you to develop an independent approach to learning and an analytical approach to knowledge through the exploration of current surveying issues and problems;
to encourage you to pursue development of expertise in the practice of quantity surveying.
Additional course information
The content of each surveying course recognises the distinction between the professional surveying disciplines, but ensures a level of commonality, essential for the modern surveyor working in a rapidly changing environment. To this end, all surveying courses have a common Level 4. The surveyor of the future will increasingly need to provide expertise in a wider field and have the ability to adapt to meet new challenges.
